This past weekend I traveled to Las Vegas to check out one of the largest electronics trade shows in the world – Consumer Electronics Show 2016 or CES. Saying that this show was huge is an understatement. It took up all of the halls in the Convention Center, as well as parts of the Sands, Mirage and other hotels on the strip.
An estimated 170,000 people traveled from near and far to check out what’s new in the world of electronics – and I was one of them!
The Future Has Arrived at CES
You know there is something cool inside a booth when the crowd spills out into the walkways. Check out this amazing futuristic car by Faraday Future. This gorgeous electric car can go from 0 – 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. Made with carbon fiber and lightweight composite construction, this car can reach a top speed of over 200 MPH!
It only seats one as you can see, and when asked what to do if you have a family of four the answer was simply, “This would be your weekend car.”
What’s an electronics show without…electronics?
Of course the big electronics brands offered sprawling booths filled with the latest and greatest gadgets. Of the masses, Intel, LG, Samsung and Sony were my faves.
After getting a glimpse of this portable ultra short throw projector by Sony, I immediately thought of never having to buy art for my walls ever again! Find a photo you love and project it onto a wall in your home. Don’t like that photo anymore? Project another one! It’s that simple. No need to worry about frames or shlepping from store to store to find things to adorn your walls. This will be available for sale in the US this summer. Perfect timing for my birthday (wink, wink husband)!
This speaker, also by Sony, is super cool. Intentionally made to be no taller than a wine bottle, this glass sound speaker offers amazing sound along with an LED source. I can totally see myself sitting outside with a glass of wine, listening to music from my new speaker – while enjoying the warm glow of the LED light. So cool.
A heaven-sent product for parents all over!
Every time (and yes, this has happened more than once) one of my boys comes to me with his iPad or iPod Touch in his hand and that “look” on his face, I cringe. The latest melodrama occurred when my oldest spilled his entire cup of fruit punch on his iPad. Where was the case for this iPad? In his room of course.
Enter Loksak. Intrigued by the concept, and knowing that I am not alone, I had to bring this product to your attention. The only resealable and flexible storage bag on the market that protects its contents from water, humidity, dust, sand, and air – the number of uses for this product is endless. I first thought of all the times the boys are outside by the pool with their iPads or even when I sit by the pool with my cell phone. It’s overly qualified for poolside as it’s waterproof up to 200 feet. You have full functionality of the touchscreen so there is NO reason why the electronic should be removed from its bag.
Interaction at Intel
Intel’s booth was enormous and extremely interactive. There were HUGE mannequin-like statues on each corner of the booth – one of which they could superimpose your photo on it’s face. It kind of looks like me, right?
Every home could use one of these
Living in Florida we don’t need humidifiers all that much, but growing up in New York (especially in the winter months with the heat always being on) it was a necessity. My youngest son gets croup at the drop of a hat, so we were super happy to find a humidifier that was as good looking as it was useful.
We have the little version for G’s room and also purchased the taller one for ours. I have my eye on the wooden version…they are gorgeous! What’s even nicer about these is that you can add essential oils to these little pads and let them float inside the humidifier – heavenly!
There’s always time for some sweets and Vivitar delivered with their very own candy bar!
Need help with your selfies?
I predict that this selfie case by Monster is going to be a big hit. Want to take a selfie but don’t want to wrestle with a selfie stick or can’t get the right angle? This case adheres (temporarily) to your bathroom mirror, a wall, you name it! No more having to cut your arm or part of the selfie stick out of the photo!
All in all, it was an amazing show. There was SO much to see – almost too much to take in. Which of the products I mentioned above would you consider buying?

I don’t think I would even know where to start in a convention that huge, but I’m sure it was so cool to check everything out. I love those humidifiers and would love one for our house! The ones for kids just aren’t the most attractive when you have to move them all over the house 🙂

This looks really cool! My husband is really into technology so he’d love attending as well. Is it always held in Vegas?
Dana says
Hi Becky! Your husband would love it if he likes technology! It is in Vegas or I believe Hong Kong ?
