Can You Believe Fall is Here?!
It is and I truly don’t know where the times goes, but I am OK with it. Being one of my most favorite seasons of the year, I revel in the cooler weather as well as the new trends that come along with this season. Since the start of my own company, DBP Marketing Solutions, I’ve had to reel in the spending. It was a bit hard at first, but totally doable. I need to focus on the business first. That doesn’t mean that I can’t window shop and possibly buy a few pieces to update my wardrobe, right?! Fall Fashion on a Budget in full effect below!
Fashion for Under $100
BLING: Wearing broaches and pins are big this season, even in your hair! Statement earrings are big once again too! Will you be partaking in either (or both) of these fun trends?
HIGH-WAISTED BOTTOMS: At first these pants may seem a bit uncomfortable and definitely the complete opposite of the super low-rise jeans from back in the day. Wear them with a tucked-in form fitting shirt, a crisp button down tucked in as well, or a billowing tunic, depending on the pant bottoms (preferably wear this type of shirt with a pair of high-waisted skinnies like the Banana Republic ones below.
PLAID: Plaid has weathered the trends season after season. I actually purchased my first plaid flannel button down from my Trendsend box (a post on that box will follow). There are so many different plaid combinations in the stores now. It’s definitely growing on me.
SKINNY SCARVES: When I first saw this trend, my thought was, “Ehhhhhhh”. I am a huge scarf fan so I gave them a second chance. They are actually perfect for the Fall season. They aren’t too heavy where you would get super-hot wearing them, and they add a nice finishing touch to your outfit. I have a few bookmarked (you’ll see them below)!
TIGHTS: What a great way to add color to a dress or skirt outfit! They even have tights that look just like leggings (another favorite staple of mine).
TURTLENECKS: Even though I now live in a much warmer climate than where I grew up in, my love for turtlenecks never wained. So I was super excited to see, that aside from being a source of warmth from the elements, they are on trend. Dickies are also in style – I can’t grasp that trend, but I feel I have to put it out there.
COMBAT BOOTS: I never really thought that combat boots would come back into style, but then again, fashion is cyclical. Something to remember: hold on to your favorite pieces because you never know if they may come back into style. Best to bet that they will! I wish I kept my Doc Martens! Heavy and clunky as they may have been, I loved them.
BACKPACKS: My back thanks the fashion gods for this addition. I’ve been foolishly lugging around large totes lovingly, but they have wrecked havoc on my back (along with the fall on my butt a few years back). Backpacks have come back cooler than ever! BTW, I’m loving this Herschel Supply Co. brand that I uncovered during my search!
FLARE JEANS: I have a soft spot for flare jeans. There’s something about them – they are FUN, they can be sexy, and they come in all colors and waist heights. I kept my pair of flares from a few years ago and am so glad I did.
There are even more trends to check out –
- Car wash pleats
- Chunky knits
- 70’s everything
- Over-the-knee boots even higher than before
- …and a lot more!
Which trends are your favorites? I’d love to hear!

I love scarves!! I just can’t WAIT for scarf season!!

Me too! I tried to wear lightweight ones during the summer but within the first 30 minutes it was tied around my purse. It was TOO hot!
Megan Gonzalez says
I can’t pull off high-waisted bottoms because I have a short torso and tights drive me batty, but I’m super excited for the statement earrings and the plaid. I think I’m even looking forward to the turtlenecks because I get really cold. But I’ll need a bit more convincing on that one 😉
Dana says
I bet once you start wearing turtlenecks, you’ll love them 😉
Mistle says
I love scarfs and plaid for fall. I also love sweater dresses, leggings, boots and tunics. I can’t wait for it to cool down here in TX to be able to wear my fall stuff.
Dana says
Leggings and tunics are going to be my go-to outfit once it gets a bit chilly. Pair that with boots and a plaid scarf and I’m good to go!
Dana says
I like the high waisted pants because it keeps my stomach in securely lololol
Rebekah says
This is the second post I’ve seen for fall style that includes turtlenecks and I’m so sad because I can’t stand them! I have too many memories of getting my head stuck as a child! Hahaha, I don’t think I’ve worn one since second grade!
Dana says
Rebekah, I’m sorry but I LOL’d when I read about your head getting stuck in a turtleneck. That happened to me too and I hated them! Now, I like them 😉
Chelsie says
I definitely need to get my hands on some combat boots! I’m not into the high waisted trend; I feel like you have to be super toned in that area to be able to pull it off!
