Streamsong, an absolutely stunning resort with two (soon to be three) golf facilities located in central Florida, was where we spent a little (fabulous) weekend getaway. Streamsong is located about an hour away from the Tampa airport and 90 minutes from Orlando International Airport.
We’ve Arrived!
It took us about 3 hours to drive there and once we turned on to Dunes Pass, we KNEW we arrived.
The understated modern elegance of the resort was first introduced when we pulled up to valet.
Since we arrived a bit early, we decided to grab lunch at P2O5. Trying to decide on what to eat was a bit hard as everything sounded yummy. We opted to start with a bowl of their seafood gumbo (definitely big enough for two) and followed that up with a smoked turkey sandwich for me and a Shrimp Banh Mi for the hubby.
Relaxation Time!
We parted ways after lunch – I walked over to AcquaPietra, Streamsong’s European grotto-inspired spa, while R went to the driving range to prepare for 18 holes on Streamsong’s Red course.
After a warm welcome, I was given a tour of the spa – the photos don’t do it justice! Intertwined between therapy/service rooms are these shallow pools, each of which are set to a different temperature. They are perfect after the super relaxing massage I had or after a long day on the course or at the pool.
I had some time in between my massage and manicure appointment, so I grabbed my Kindle and relaxed in one of the cabanas by the lakeside pool. I was so impressed (and thankful) when one of the resort attendees came around with cold towels to cool everyone off – such a thoughtful touch!
The room we stayed in was so cool! I loved the little touches such as the shelves that housed literary favorites, and big touches such as floor to ceiling windows outfitted with louvers to control the natural light. Our view of the lake was amazing!
Since I had some extra time before getting ready for dinner, I toured the grounds. Built on 16,00o acres of former phosphate mile land in Polk County, the resort is composed of:
- The Lodge is the main building that houses 216 guest rooms (with 12 additional rooms in the Gold Clubhouse)
- Two golf courses, as mentioned above
- Streamsong Red is a par-72 course known for its landforms, large lakes and rolling terrain
- Streamsong Blue is also a par-72 course with wide fairways, bunkers, and elevation changes unlike any other Florida course we’ve seen
- Outdoor amenities included sporting clays, lakeside pool, nature trail, tennis courts, archery, and guided bass fishing.
Once the third golf course (Streamsong Black) is completed it 2017, the resort will be the only one in the world where there are three distinct golf courses designed by 4 famous architects – Tom Doak, Bill Coore, Ben Crenshaw, and Gil Hanse.
Dinner was a great time to catch up with other lifestyle bloggers that were also invited to experience the resort. There were signature items offered from each of the restaurants – Restaurant Fifty-Nine (located in the clubhouse), Sottoterra, and P2O5.
I see how Streamsong is the epitome of a golfer’s dream vacation spot, but I can now envision it also as a cool place to go for a weekend getaway. I was able to have some quality “me time” at the spa and poolside while my husband had some quality “him time” on the golf course. Reconnecting afterward over dinner and a glass of wine was the perfect end to a great evening.
