As I have mentioned previously, my husband believes that Valentine’s Day was made up by the people of Hallmark. I, on the other hand, love a day that is encircled around LOVE. Not that I shouldn’t get flowers, candy, and/or cards any other day of the year…but it is a day to look forward to.
Below is an interesting infographic on how the male and female perceive Valentine’s Day.
Not to sound sexist in any way, but I do think it is more of a woman’s holiday; although I get my hubby cards and gifts!
What are your thoughts on the holiday?

This was way fun to see…I especially thought the money spending part was funny, guys spending much more. Makes sense since yes, it tends to be more of a woman’s holiday…but still LOL #SITSChallenge

It’s interesting how disproportionate the spending is between men and women. Wow! I pinned this to my V-day board. I’m visiting from SITS. Nice to meet you!

Found you via BYB!
Honestly, we’ve traded in the typical Valentine’s Day stuff for family orientated things. Part of it, no doubt, is b/c our son’s birthday is the 15th. We get more fun doing something either before or after (no crowds) and then doing stuff w/the kids.

Family time is the best!

Hi Dana! I found your blog via BYB. That’s a really interesting graphic.
I can definitely see how a holiday centred around love would be really romantic, but my husband and I usually ignore Valentine’s Day. It feels pretty commercialised to us, and I definitely agree that it’s more for women than men. Our anniversary is exactly a week later, so we celebrate that instead. Maybe if they weren’t so close, we would do something special. It would definitely be centred around family time and loving each other, not just your partner. I actually think that it may be fun to do something like that next year.
Dana says
Hi Yuliya, I agree with you regarding the commercialization of Valentine’s Day, Hallmark must love it!

Visiting from #BB100
I think it’s interesting that while I agree that it’s primarily a woman’s holiday, women seem to have less expectations than men. Or maybe they just say they expect less so that when they get more from their man they can be more excited. LOL At any rate, it’s a good excuse to eat chocolate!
Dana says
I completely agree with you Tina…yet another wonderful excuse to eat chocolate! Thanks for visiting!!

Thanks for stopping by Tina!! Valentine’s Day is definitely a GREAT excuse to eat chocolate!

Interesting info-graphic. I am not a fan of the holiday. I think it puts to much pressure on men to get us something whether or not they want to. I did however enjoy some of the very creative gift ideas they had nothing to do with candy, balloons or roses.
Dana says
Sharla, I agree to a degree and my husband definitely agrees with you! This year he made me a Happy Valentine’s Day sign and posted it to my bathroom mirror – that meant more to me than chocolates or a card!
