I’m kind of bummed that it took me this long to dine at Trophy Room in Wellington. It’s a hidden gem in this equestrian town, and I am excited to help spread the word.
I need to first note that Palm Beach Chef James Strine oversees the New American menu (Chef Jimmy’s previous culinary experiences landed him as executive chef of Grato and Buccan, and executive sous chef of Cafe Boulud). That alone should be reason to visit this refined dining establishment.
Chef Jimmy and his team really took the time to offer up different culinary options. He did some serious R&D – even on the bread that you receive at the table. We tried this artful marriage of light and airy focaccia and parker house rolls – I hope its still there when I return! (We tried not to eat too much of it – you know, you hear your parent’s voice in your head saying, “Don’t fill up on the bread.” It’s really hard not to.)
Our waitress was extremely helpful and honest when it came to recommendations. I was super impressed with her knowledge of the wine – especially the delish Pinot Noir I tried. She told us the story behind the wine making, making it taste even better going down!
Dinner Time at Trophy Room
Here’s a peek at what I (thoroughly) enjoyed!
Trophy Mule: cucumber infused Tito’s, rernet branca, rosemary, lime, Fever Tree ginger beer
Spicy Cauliflower: crispy cauliflower, kimchee vinaigrette, scallions with green goddess dressing for dipping
Foccacia Bread: traditional, light and airy focaccia bread with a secret twist
Himachi Crudo: diced ginger, avocado, jalapeno slices, and crispy plantain chips
Maryland Crab Dip: super cheesy deliciousness served with bread rounds and pickled jalapeños
Meatball Sliders: one bite and you’ll know what makes them one of the most popular choices on the menu
Grilled Octopus with Beef Marrow over Bucatini: oh.em.gee
Braised Beef Tongue: truffle glaze and mustard seeds over pureed potato.
Pizza: light and crispy, fresh tomato and cheese
Dessert: heaven on a plate
Check out Trophy Room on Mondays for Pizza Night, as well as Happy Hour specials on beverages and light bites from 4p – 7p daily!
If you’re looking for a place to host your next business dinner, meeting, party, or charity event check out the private dining room as well as the outdoor patio. I attended a charity function for Horses Healing Hearts there and the private event room was perfect.
