I like to consider myself somewhat of a pro when it comes to online shopping. The convenience is bar-none the number one reason, with budget being a close second. One feature that I like, when shopping online, is the Wish List.
Use the wish list! Peruse the site, collect all of the pieces you like, and save them there until they either go on sale or your husband finds them and buys them for you. All kidding aside, this is a great way to “window shop” online.
Some sites will send you email reminders along the lines of, “Did you forget about me?” or “Your wish list items are on sale” or they may even offer you a percentage off to entice you back to their site and complete your purchase.
One scenario that comes to mind where the wish list has been a money saver is this: I get an email advertising the Fall line for Banana Republic. I click through the email, and save all of the pieces I like to my wish list. Usually, in a week or so, I will receive an email from Banana Republic offering a percentage off! I then go back to my wish list, reassess what is on there and order whatever I choose – now at a discount! That sweater and black work pants are now more justifiable!
Sites that I use their wish list option are:
- Banana Republic/Gap/Old Navy
- Nordstrom
- Anthropologie
Try the wish list option and tell me what you think!
