Since my sister, niece and nephews were coming into town, I wanted to plan something super fun for the kids. They always talk about their cousins, asking when we are going to see them again; so when we do get together I want it to be memorable and fun. This time around I decided it would be cool if we all went to Legoland. I figured we could drive up Saturday, go to the park for the day, grab some dinner, sleep over in the Orlando area (we haven’t found any hotels in the immediate Legoland area), a character breakfast in the AM and then back to the old homestead.
The day started out a bit later than anticipated, but we were soon off to the land that Emmett built (or built Emmett…). Our bathroom stop took forever (4 boys, 1 girl, all wanting different things for lunch/snack combined with staff that was less than speedy). I couldn’t wait to get to Legoland, not so much for the park itself but to get out of the tight confines of four boys who wanted to only play on their electronics, fought, teased, whined…yeah, I was ready to be there already. My parents lucked out with my niece in their car.
Upon arrival, and after waiting 20 minutes for will call to trade in my vouchers for tickets we were ready to explore. Not even two minutes into the park did we realize that besides the fact that the kids wanted to go on different rides than each other, the park itself was quite packed. The fact that the lines were ridiculously long for Legoland-standard only irritated the group more.
We survived…the kids said they had a great time…I definitely think that Legoland is a park you visit once and then can check it off of your bucket list.
I think the highlight of the day was when Grandpa let the kids have a mini shopping spree in the Big Shop. The choices were amazing…I even picked something up for myself!
I love putting Lego sets together and since G has really gotten good at putting his sets together, I can’t “help” him anymore. I think this is going to be my new hobby (with all of the free time I have) – it was very relaxing!
All in all, the kids can come out of this trip with great memories of spending time with their cousins! Sadie enjoyed her time at the Barkers Hotel, but was super happy to come home!
Have you been to Legoland Florida?
