On this day, back in 1964, a patent was granted for the hula hoop! This well-known toy is both super exciting for kids AND a great form of exercise. My oldest son loves to hula hoop and is actually pretty darn good at it! My little guy even got him one for his birthday!
Tidbits about this childhood love:
Did you know that hula hoops go back to the 5th century in ancient Greece?
In the 1950s Wham-O toy company brought this plastic product to the forefront.
The record for the most hoops twirled simultaneously is 132, set by Paul “Dizzy Hips” Blair on November 11, 2009.
The longest verified record holder is Aaron Hibbs from Columbus, Ohio who broke the record at hula hooping for 74 hours and 54 minutes between October 22, through 25, 2009.

My middle daughter loves to hula hoop. She’s pretty good at it, she can walk, jump and twist while doing it. I’m always so impressed when she does it!!! 🙂

I am very impressed! Besides hula hoops being a great source of exercise, it is also great for coordination – which it sounds like your daughter has a lot of!!
