I don’t know why I am so psyched about this instance, BUT…
My parents always had this sixth sense – they knew if I was up to no good or if I was doing something I shouldn’t be doing. I wasn’t a bad kid, I don’t think, but you know you tried to do things on the sly here and there. (Like the times my sister and I would get grounded from using the phone…that was like…HELL. We would hide a spare phone in our room so we could use it when ours was confiscated. Love you mom and dad!!)
I digress, as I always do.
So, tonight is the night before N’s first day of 2nd grade. No, I cannot believe he is going into 2nd grade…nor can I believe that my BABY is going in Kindergarten beginning Tuesday. We planned to start them on their “earlier to bed” schedule (better late than never, right?). N had his bath, brushed his teeth and put his PJs on as scheduled. Of course, I was glued to the computer (uploading birthday party pictures) so I didn’t notice that he was playing his Nintendo DS in the living room. Once noticed, I asked him to please put his DS on the charger and head upstairs. As I was walking with him to the stairway, I asked him to help me bring things up. (I put everything that needs to go upstairs along the left side of the stairway…going up. Do you think anyone besides me notices that and brings the items up??? No…) N bolts up the stairs with what seems like something under his PJ shirt…hmmmmmmm.
Slick mom that I am (first time…I am allowed to boast) calmly says, “Hey N,bring your DS back downstairs and help me bring this stuff up.” Heh Heh Heh…He comes back downstairs, with the look on his face “she got me” (yay!), mumbled something about finishing a level, handed me the game, and carried everything up.
Is it odd that I am all excited about this sudden “Mommy vision” break through?? I know this DS smuggling may only be the beginning but I want my boys to think that I am “all knowing” as I did my parents. LOLOL
OK, to bed for me! I have a kid turning 5 in the AM and another starting another adventure in elementary school!
