Sooooooo….Sunday I left my cell phone in the robe pocket. By the time I realized, the machine (and my phone) were on the spin cycle. It was way past the point of no return 🙁
What did I do before cell phones? Seriously though. My calendar, to-do list, phone numbers, (games) – everything is so nice and organized on that little box. Of course, after the tragedy on Sunday, I asked my husband for a cell phone for Christmas. It was ordered shortly afterwards from Amazon and I anxiously awaited its arrival.
Fast forward to Tuesday – my husband kindly went to the T-Mobile store to get me a new SIM card. The new phone arrives and R fully charges it for me. He went to put the SIM card in – it was too big! Apparently there is a mini version.
Next day – I go to a T-Mobile store and the sales representative hands me over the correct mini SIM card. It fits perfectly BUT – my signal only shows the lowest bandwidth – 2G. Whaaaaaaaa? Wait two hours, I am told. I waited 24, still no luck.
Yesterday – on the phone with T-Mobile customer service. I was ruing that I had to even call them as I have had terrible situations with them in the past. Like full out screaming expletives. This time – it was a pleasure!!! The lady I spoke with was so nice and super educated on my plan and the phone. It turns out that if you purchase a cell phone from a 3rd party establishment (such as Amazon, Buy.com, etc.) just understand that you will not get the full bandwidth as you normally would if you purchased it from the service provider. Could it be a scam-y thing that the service provider plots so you are forced to purchase through them? Quite possibly BUT hey…at this point I want a phone and one that works to its required capacity.
Today – my fabulous husband has returned the first phone and is at T-Mobile getting me their version of the same exact phone. If I knew about this discrepancy, I would have definitely just went straight to the T-Mobile store, bypassing an online retailer, extra days of waiting for delivery, having to go and replace the first SIM card, etc.
Moral of this really long story – do research on your purchases, it’s worth it in the long run, believe me! Also, was life actually simpler without cell phones…hmmmmmmm
