As I am sure you are aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Everywhere you turn, you will hear about the raised awareness about the importance of screening and the early detection of breast cancer. Approximately one in eight women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at one point in their life. That is really scary odds.
The good news is that many women can survive breast cancer if it is found and treated early. If you are between the ages of 40 and 49, you should speak with your doctor about starting to get mammograms if you have not had one yet. Women ages 50 – 74 should get mammograms every 2 years.
