My husband swears that Valentine’s Day was created by the people at Hallmark. I beg to differ. Regardless of his opinion I started looking for some fun and different Valentine’s Day date ideas.
Picnic: A romantic picnic, either indoors or outdoors (maybe at a nearby park or even in your backyard!) is a fun alternative to going out to eat. Your picnic can be comprised of:
- Cheese, crackers and some fruit paired with your favorite wine
- Lunch sandwiches paired with fresh lemonade
- Breakfast or brunch picnics could be egg sandwiches or bagels and schmear with a nice spicy bloody mary
- Dinner prepared just before packing and ready to go!
Couples Spa Day: There’s nothing ore relaxing and romantic than a couples massage. Follow that up with a nice light lunch – and if you are in a tropical climate, take the time to lay on the beach or a lounge chair and enjoy the day together.
Dinner at a Memorable Restaurant: Make reservations at:
- The restaurant where you had your first date
- Your all time favorite restaurant
- A new restaurant you’ve been talking about trying but haven’t gotten a chance to try out
Watch the Sunrise/Sunset: Considering this Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday, watching a sunrise Sunday morning or the sun setting on Sunday evening would be super romantic! Bring a blanket and a bottle of wine or champagne and toast to each other!
Movie Night: Pick three of your favorite movies, pop some popcorn and cuddle together on the couch for a movie marathon – pajamas optional 😉
Game Night: Time to get the competitive spirits riled up and break out the cards for some poker or open that Scrabble board – winner chooses what you two do next.
Reminisce: Break out the videos and pictures (wedding, vacation, party) and reminisce about the great times you’ve had and talk about how amazing 2016 will be for you both!
What are you planning on doing this Valentine’s Day? I’d love to hear of some other great ideas!

I always tell my husband lets get up to watch the sunrise together and have coffee.. I really love doing it on vacation. One day I will get him up for it. Thank you for the ideas

Love these suggestions. We usually spend Valentine’s Day by alternating years of making dinner for each other. This year is mine and I’m still trying to decide on my menu.
Dana says
That sounds like such a nice tradition! I can’t wait to hear what you decide to make 🙂

I love these suggestions. I’m one for celebrating Valentines a week ahead or a week later because the crowds at restaurants just AREN’T conducive to love, LOL!!
